The 11th HIV and AIDS Discussion –The Role of Partnerships in HIV Prevention Programs
Company-Community Partnerships for Health in Indonesia (CCPHI), held the 11th HIV & AIDS Discussion at the office building of Nahdlatul Ulama on 23rd October 2013. The theme of the discussion is the Role of Partnerships in HIV Prevention Programs with speakers from Standard Chartered Bank/SCB and Lembaga Kemaslahatan Keluarga Nahdlatul Ulama (LKKNU). The event was attended by 32 participants from 4 companies, 1 media, and 9 NGOs.
Standard Chartered Bank ( http://www.standardchartered.com/) is an international bank that operates in many countries, while LKKNU is an organization under the Nahdlatul Ulama ( http://www.nu.or.id/) that have special concern on population, family planning and reproductive health issues.
The first presentation was delivered by Suwarno Tuiyo head of LKKNU North Sulawesi - who explained about "Co-operation and Partnerships between LKKNU North Sulawesi and the stakeholders to improve the program's achievement". Suwarno described their partners (stakeholders) involvement and the lessons learned gained in developing partnerships based on LKKNU's experience in running the HIV prevention program for key populations (such as clients and men having sex with men)
Furthermore, Srie Rejeki from SCB as the second presenter, gave a brief description about The HIV Prevention Program of "Education and Volunteering in Living with HIV Program".
The program activities included building a network of employees who would volunteer to become company's 'HIV Champions'. The Champions conducted HIV prevention education sessions to the fellow employees at work place and external partners as well as the surrounding communities.
