The 10th HIV & AIDS Discussion – Youth Reproductive Health and HIV prevention
Company-Community Partnerships for Health in Indonesia (CCPHI), held the 10th HIV & AIDS discussion at The National AIDS Commission/NAC (www.aidsindonesia.or.id) on July 3, 2013. The theme of the meeting was Youth Reproductive Health and HIV prevention with speakers from Unilever Indonesia (UI) and Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB). The meeting was attended by 30 participants from 3 companies, 9 NGOs, 1association and 1 government agency.
The first speaker was Waila Wisjnu - Assistant Manager Public Health Education Unilever Indonesia - presented its "Youth Health Program" as one of Unilever commitments in addressing youth problems. The program benefits students from junior and high schools in North Sumatra, Jakarta, East Java and Bali. Among the topics given during the education sessions were personal hygiene, reproductive health including HIV and drug/narcotics, building self-esteem and peer communication.
The second speaker, GilbertClaymondt-YCAB Campaign Manager - shared about their program "Jakarta Stop AIDS/JSA", a program funded by UI located in Jakarta. This on-going program began in 2009, with activities such as trainings for teachers and peer educators. From 2009 until 2012, JSA has disseminated information on HIV prevention to more than145,000 students across Jakarta.
