Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and PT Zurich Insurance Indonesia (ZII): Tangguh Flood Community Program in Indonesia
The Flood Resilient Community Program is a product of a global partnership between the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich) held in four countries Nepal, Peru, Mexico, Indonesia. In realizing this program in Indonesia, IFRC is implemented by PMI, which is a member of IFRC; and by Zurich Insurance Indonesia (ZII) which is a general insurance company, part of Zurich Insurance Group.
The partnership is not only directed at the provision of funds, materials and personnel, but also in terms of planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating it, including the sustainability of the program. The concept in this partnership is the incorporation of expertise and experience. Zurich is experienced in risk management combined with IFRC and PMI who are experienced in conducting long-term community-based programs, focusing on disaster risk reduction. In the implementation of the program, PMI acts as a leader to lead the community that is implementing the program. While Zurich is committed to not only donating funds, but also actively engaging its employees by contributing time, expertise, knowledge and experience. High participation from all components of society, government, and universities and other institutions is also involved to support this partnership to be able to build flood-resilient communities.
