DOING GOOD to Help the Indonesian Government to Fight COVID-19.
Indonesia has entered a new chapter when the Government officially announced the first case of COVID-19 in early March 2020. Beforehand, the Government has prepared various efforts to control measures that focus on prevention and mitigating the transmission. As of April 9, 2020, the Indonesian Government has recorded 2,956 cases with 240 deaths.
The community, including the business sector, understands that they must work hand in hand with the government to fight the COVID-19. All layers in society have to take steps to any kind of contribution, either by self-quarantine as per the government instruction to break the transmission cycle, or contributing their expertise as well as donating the supplies and funding to combat the outbreak.
Following are some CCPHI members that have contributed in "Doing Good" to help the Government of Indonesia dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic:
Private Sector
Danone has contributed Rp 15 Billion for medical supplies, safety gears for health workers that are at the forefront of fighting this pandemic, and food supplies for vulnerable patients such as elderly, pregnant women and children.
Sinarmas with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce China have donated medical supplies to the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB).
Kitabisa.com through its fundraising platform has succeeded to raise fund of around Rp 25 Billion as per 23 April 2020, the fund raising is still open until end of May 2020.
Astra has donated Rp. 93M in two stages. The first stage was given to Indonesian Red Cross in PPE, test kits, disinfectant, as well as 115 vehicles to spray disinfectants. The second one was given to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Jakarta and the Airlangga Tropical Infection Disease Hospital in Surabaya.
Indosat Ooredoo are in fully support with the distance learning by providing free internet access to several leading digital learning platforms. In addition, they also contributed five buses for education and distribution purposes; along with face masks and cash of Rp. 5M to accelerate the tackling of COVID-19.
Bakrie Group and its affiliation Bumi Resources Minerals, have donated Rp. 20 Billion to the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB).
Nestlé provided their dairy products which have the benefit to increase the body immunity for health worker, and also disinfectant, alcohol swab, and hand sanitizer.
Trakindo Utama donated PPEs to Fatmawati General Hospital, one of referral hospitals for COVID-19.
Frisian Flag contributed dairy products such as ready-to-drink and powdered milk, totaling of Rp 4 billion for health worker, journalist, patient family, and informal sector worker or daily worker and their families to improve the quality of people at higher risk to COVID-19.
In its operation area, Chevron donated masks to Arifin Rachmad General Hospital and disinfectant to the surrounding operating areas. Chevron is also in the process of providing PPEs for the Riau Provincial Government.
As a subsidiary of Pertamina, Elnusa supported the government's efforts by handing hundreds of PPEs to Pertamedika Hospital which manages Pertamina Jaya Hospital as one of the COVID-19 Referral Hospitals.
Non Profit Sector
Indika Foundation has donated 1 Billion rupiah to help combat the transmission of corona virus in Indonesia. Donations were given to COVID-19 Accelerated Handling Task Force through Yayasan Benih Baik Indonesia (YBBI).
Based on its press release, Tanoto Foundation donated protection gear such mask, goggle and protective suit for ICU and non-ICU.
In an effort to contain COVID-19, Hope Worldwide provided mobile washbasin, IEC and staple food packages. In addition they also provide PPEs such as surgical and cloth masks, face shields, goggles, and protective clothing.
Dompet Dhuafa has managed to raise funds from the community as much as Rp. 8M out of Rp. 60M target. The fundraising will continue until the end of May 2020. Dompet Dhuafa has also established an emergency hospital in Kartika Pulomas Hospital.
In addition to preparing 10,000 PPEs to be distributed to COVID-19 referral hospitals throughout Indonesia, Rumah Zakat also distributed the staple food packages to low-income families affected by the pandemic.
The #GardaMudaBerantasCovid movement initiated by CISDI is expected to take part in preventing the spread of COVID-19 by filling the gaps and inequalities in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
