CCPHI Participated in Facilitating the Evidence-Based Advocacy Training to Improve the Quality of Reproductive Health Services in Districts

Dian Rosdiana, Communication Officer of CCPHI participated as one of the facilitators at the Evidence-Based Advocacy Training which focused on improving the quality of reproductive health services. The activity was held in Bandung (3-5 October 2013) and supported by the National Population and Family Planning Board/BKKBN and the United Nations Population Fund /UNFPA.

Technical assistances were also provided by the trainers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health/Center for Communication Programs (CCP) Indonesia. The training's objective was to build the capacity of districts/municipalities in increasing budget allocation for reproductive health program e.g.  increasing family planning users, improving access to reproductive health services for women from resource-poor areas and reducing unmet needs, maternal mortality rate and pregnancy-related risks.

This training was significant in relation to the latest results of 2012 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) which indicated the increased of maternal mortality rate (MMR) of 359 per 100,000 live births compared to the 2007 with only 228 per 100,000 live births.
