The 41st Partnership Forum: Nestlé’s and Migunani’s Partnership on Integrated Community Empowerment Program in Guliling Village, Mamuju
The 41st Partnership Forum was held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 with the topic: " Integrated Community Empowerment in Guliling Village, Mamuju: A Partnership between Nestlé and Migunani Association", conducted at Conclave Wijaya, Jakarta. The 41st Partnership Forum presented speakers from Nestlé Indonesia and Migunani Association.
In this Forum, the discussion was mostly on the nature of relationship between the donor (private sector) and implementer in this program. The relationship they had is very family-friendly, flexible yet still being very structural in the context of partnership. Both donor (Nestlé) and implementing NGO (Migunani) are able to build strong mutual trust so that they can create a great deal of trust in each other Migunani did not come with empty promises, but also with the real situation in the field and their plan on how to achieve the best they could do in implementing the program. The mutual understanding has resulted the successful Integrated Community Empowerment program in Guliling Village from 2015-2017 by providing access to clean water, changing people's habit to a healthier lifestyle, improving health services and developing economic potential through Village-owned Business Unit.
Both Nestlé and Migunani agreed that the main challenges in this partnership was not in communication between the two organizations, but rather in changing people's mindsets and keeping their participation in the programs. It took a lot of efforts to be in a village with its dynamics, and thus it was not possible to achieve the result by just visiting to the location only a couple times. Migunani facilitators worked with their hearts for the successful of the program by doing it one step at a time.
One participant stated that by sharing the program through discussion will hopefully increase the flexibility of the organizations (both companies and governments) who wish to provide an aid program to not only merely focus on results. Penetration to the beneficiary is much more crucial compared to just planning and realizing a program.
The 41st Partnership Forum was attended by: 49 participants from the private sector (including companies, philanthropy, and media), NGOs, and research institutions. This discussion was hosted by Marendra Cahya Sadikin as the Partnership Building Specialist of CCPHI.
