On February 22, 2012 CCPHI conducted the second Education and Business Forum participated by 42 individuals from nine companies, 13 NGOs, one academic institute, and one association. PT Indofood Sukses Makmur hosted the meeting.
Indofood and its partner, Yayasan Karya Salemba Empat (KSE), an NGO working on education presented their work on the Bisma program which combines scholarship program and leadership trainings for college students of low-income families. Since the beginning of the program in 2009, 741 scholarships have been distributed in 12 state universities in Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Bali, and Sulawesi. The Bisma program provides tuition fees and some expenses for intensive training and coaching based on students' interest and expertise to help them become future leaders in the business sector. Ikatan Guru Indonesia (The Indonesian Teacher Association), a member of CCPHI's Health and Business Roundtable Indonesia (HBRI), facilitated the meeting's discussion in which participants asked about the implementation of leadership trainings and costs of the program. Indofood and KSE, through sharing their Bisma's model, hope that other companies and NGOs will adopt similar models to improve quality of university graduates in Indonesia.
